VIDEO | Kellee Maize - "Revival of the Fifth Sun'

I am so confused on this one. I started watching wondering what she was going to do, and then kept watching in a state of uncomfortable amusement. She goes over the Mobb classic beat, with almost the same flow, which is pretty much a rap-game no no. The fact she is white, blond female and believes in some peyote-driven existentialistic Sun God bullshit makes her raps so unique. I don't think I like UPDATE: We know we don't like it, but its somewhat compelling to watch, at least half of it. The dudes shirt behind her thats says "Google Female Rapper" made me crack up.

a rap game no no? you obviously know nothing about rap.

she keeps it real, hot, and is herself. Thanks Kellee for another great video.

using another groups beat, ok. using their beat, their flow and even some of their lyrics? thats bullshit, FOR SURE!

MOBB knows nothing about hip hop either ... Kellee took the Jim Jones approach and took it to a new level. There's a reason hip hop blogs left and right are talkin about this track ... it's cus it's gangsta

I knew this video would stir the pot.

I bet JeezyFab is Kellee herself, or her girlfriend.

After googling this chick I am very impressed with her diversity, Im interested to see were her career takes her…

@Not Really Sure- watching in uncomfortable enjoyment?!? I doubt it, obviously you enjoyed it enough to post it on your blog! I def. laughed at the google female rapper shirt tho, but I did it and Kellee’s website is the first link, very impressive and nothing wrong with a lil shameless promo homo

@jeezyfab- I wouldn’t say shorty is gangsta but she def. know how to keep it real

i don't think kellee cares about the "rules of hip hop" and it's no no's....she is creating a new sound and message for the world, if you take something goodlike te mobb track, and switch up the message you may get people who liked it the first time around to give it a chance to listen while suddenly being exposed to her message...it think it's clever, whether it's a no no or not...and i feel her in all her songs, i love conscious rap, mos def, the roots, blackalicious, talib, etc....musicians have shamelessly promoted them selves and the system has employed payola and all kinds of f-d up shit for years to control what music you consume on mass levels, so what wrong with her using some of that game in her own task. she may "shamelessly" promote herself but in entertainment, that's the name of the game...keep up the work sista...know that the haters are just projecting onto you what they don't like about themselves, and continue to spread your enlightening message!

I like this video for the most part - the affects are really cool. I think I need to start listening more - I like her messages but if she took someone elses lyrics/flow maybe that is a no no (I know you can use people's beats though -idk why but I hear thats okay). Over all I like Kellee but maybe I should do a bit more research after reading this...

do you guys really care this much?!?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA, now that's funny.
She has some friends on fb that fill message boards for her, so they care. I don't know how much anyone else does. I think it's weak to just steal a beat. Why can't my band just steal the music from Stairway To Heaven and write lyrics? Hip Hop is a very unoriginal genre...just cause you look different, doesn't mean you ain't the same.

the male hating shit is old too.

the peeps that get her message care, they go nuts on anything writen bout her. she aint no man hater either, you ain't listenin close enuf. if it bothers you that much go to her site, she explains all her lyrics and where she comin from, i don't think she gangster thats total off base, i like she different, changin up the rules, her fan base is obsessed, it can get real funny...i do want more though so keep the kmaize comin

interesting take on this song. The blogger probably does not follow hip hop or its culture, as one can probably tell from reading the rest of this blog.

Doin a bit of research, you will see that prominent DJ's and even hip hop historian Davey D have vouched for this song ... Davey D included it in his article entitled Why Hop Hop Isn't dead.

http://hiphopandpolitics.wordpress.com/2010/10/23/5-videos-that-remind-us-hip-hop-is-not-dead-2-from-eternia-to-medusa-beyond/

LEt's see if the blogger is brav enough o approve this comment ;o)
