Shepard Fairey and the OBEY Crew Hit the NYC Streets

Shepard and his team went big on their Deitch mural in New York, and continue their work on the streets. All work and now play makes this trip to the east coast very productive for Obey. I just wonder what people say when they know exactly who did these pieces and where to find him if they are mad, or would like to take legal eaction. My guess is that they now seen as more-of a welcomed addition to the building, and less as ugly graffiti. (Photos by Sabeth718)

SAY WHAT?! | 'Born Free' Music Video? No, It's a Movie Video

This isn't a normal music video for any song your've ever heard. Its a short film backed up by a meaningful track. M.I.A. is known for passionate and meaningful songwriting, and this video echoes that. Well worth the watch. The idea alone is very thought provoking and rather appropriate. It was directed by Romain Gavras, and the director of photography is André Chemetoff. The song is called, 'Born Free'.

Feelin' It | Paste Ups by 'Nomadé' in Los Angeles

Really liking this new piece from Nomadé in Los Angeles. I have been seeing more and more of Nomadé's work around town, but this is the one (I haven't seen in person) that really strikes me.

SO HOT! | The Nudes of Michel Comte

Artist Michel Comte is from Zurich, Switzerland. Comte received his first international advertising assignment from Karl Lagerfeld for the fashion house of Chloe and moved to Paris.

In addition to portrait photography and fashion Comte has also increasingly moved towards photo-reportage and docucumentary. On photo assignments for the international Red Cross as well as his own Michel Comte Water Foundation he has travelled war zones and unstable areas in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Sudan and Cambodia.

The first one is rather dull. The second one has a fair bit of commentary on the current state of his work. Its meant to be temporary but not in the sense that it should be cut out of the wall and posted on ebay the next day. The always subversive Mr. B gives us a glimpse into his thoughts on the recent art heists his works have been subject to.

Feelin' It | MAR "He is Mr. Brainwash-ED"

Los Angeles artist, MAR has gone after Mr. Brainwash in a great way. Finally someone has given that art fraud a taste of his own game. The stolen and reproduced Warhol image Thierry repeats ad nauseum, has now been applied to his face.

"He (MBW) did it to every person and their mother. So I figured that someone needed to give Brainwash that same stolen "Warholian" makeover he is selling as his own.

So I give you Thierry Guetta as Marilyn, therefore taking the entire process full circle. Ripped off, then ripped off again, then ripped off and over-exploited by MBW, and then ripped off (by me) and used as a critique on the very artist responsible for its eventual demise.

He has made Michael Jackson into one, Spock and anyone else that his graphic designers think up. So now its time for Thierry's image to be exploited, just like he did to everyone else."
